APC Overnight claimed to take reasonable steps in tracing back items to their true owners before selling them on.
In this suitcase there were plenty of completed job applications where individuals had applied for jobs at Carphone Warehouse. The job applications included copies of their driving licences and passports.
Having a closer look at all the documents, it should have been clear that they belonged to a recruitment company Detail2Recruitment.
This suitcase was sold to a private company which resold items. APC Overnight should have at the very least destroyed the document as they do with their own internal document.
But, the fact they did not should not come as a surprise as they also sold on their own internal documents that were contained in bags clearly marked for destruction.
